The FLY Launch Event Was a Success!

April 30, 2014

On Thursday, April 17, FLY officially announced its formation with a Launch held from 4-6 pm in Kroon Hall. The event was a huge success, with over 150 professionals from over 100 different departments across the University in attendance. There was widespread interest and a great deal of shared enthusiasm for the formation of a group dedicated to helping people starting out in their careers at Yale.

At the event, the director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Debbie Stanley-McAulay, spoke about the formation of the group and the value of such a resource to individuals and the university. The co-chairs, Alina Nevins and Becky DeSalvo, took a few moments to introduce themselves and discuss FLY’s vision and objectives. Attendees were presented with several of the key goals that FLY is hoping to accomplish, ways for anyone to get involved, and who can join/how to join. Later in the evening, Mike Peel, the Vice President for Human Resources and Administration, who is also the Executive Sponsor of FLY, discussed why the University is so excited for the formation of FLY.

Led by a talented group of professionals, FLY is going to be a powerful resource for individuals and the University alike. The steering committee is excited and ready to effect change at Yale.
