The Future Leaders of Yale, Asian Network at Yale, and Working Women’s Network are coordinating with Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS), a New Haven organization that assists refugees upon arrival in the United States, to find ways for our community to support Afghan refugees who are coming to Connecticut. IRIS expects to welcome 300-400 Afghan refugees to our area in the coming months. Click here to hear IRIS Executive Director Chris George discuss the refugees’ anticipated need and how IRIS assists.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Wishlist of books and literacy tools for refugee children
  2. General household items wishlist
  3. Financial donations to IRIS
  4. Join a local community group in towns around the state and work with IRIS to welcome families in your community
  5. Advocate with elected officials to rescue refugees
