Common Ground High School Young Professionals Mentoring Program

June 10, 2014

A Note from Asia Neupane, FLY Outreach Committee:

It was wonderful to see everyone at the FLY event at Cask Republic! The Outreach Committee is delighted that the event was a success and that there were so many wonderful books donated by everyone benefiting New Haven Reads, one of our community partners for this year. Please read about our other two New Haven community partners for this year.

Along these lines, I want to let our interested FLY members know about a volunteer opportunity with high school students at Common Ground High School. Common Ground is launching their high school and young professionals mentoring program (Click here for an overview). If you are interested in learning more about Common Ground, you can also watch this video

About the program

The Common Ground High School Mentoring Program is a new student leadership development program. Its mission is to:

  1. Recognize and develop the leadership abilities of all students regardless of their grade level
  2. Foster opportunities for mentoring in the Common Ground community surrounding college prep, academics, and community service
  3. Provide professional development for peer mentors in form of training sessions and retreats and providing them with their own mentors
  4. Create opportunities for students to connect the surrounding community to our school community and its resources through ambassadorship

Please let me know if you may be interested in volunteering as a mentor to Common Ground High School students.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Very best,
Asia Neupane
