Navigating Your Career At Yale for FLY: Getting Started

This course will be presented by Yale Staffing to guide and assist internal candidates when searching for a new opportunity at Yale.


Managing Up

Managing Up is not about telling your superiors what to do. Rather, it is about learning the skills needed to meet your organization’s goals and make recognized and valued contributions. It’s about learning to create an open exchange of ideas between your supervisor and yourself to yield measurable results. The course content is appropriate for both supervisors and non-supervisors. 


Exploring Career Satisfaction

Tuesday, June 16, 2015 - 9:00am to 12:30pm

This Workshop will assist you in determining what is needed for career satisfaction and will help to inform development choices and career possibilities. Through a series of exercises you will identify your strengths, talents and areas for development and identify what kinds of work environments are most conducive to your job satisfaction.

“Navigating Conflict” is a half-day, interactive workshop designed to promote an understanding of how people typically deal with conflict and introduces a model for successfully steering potential conflict in a constructive direction.


Communicating for Results

The ability to communicate effectively is a key skill for all staff. We spend 75% of our waking hours communicating our knowledge, thoughts, and ideas to others. How do you ensure that your message will be understood in the way you intended it to be understood? This course will introduce you to a process that can help. The focus will be on sending clear, direct communication—to say what you mean and mean what you say. 


Leading with Influence

Leading with Influence recognizes the fact that individuals often need to use their ability to “enlist, persuade, and engage” others, in order to get results. In fact, without the ability to influence, individuals can end up working hard and long to strategize, innovate, and achieve their goals – and still not get the payoff they deserve from their efforts!


Making Your Resume Work for You

Participants will build skills for resume writing. Participants will learn principles for effective resume writing, different resume styles and their purpose, and how to compose a cover letter.
