Description
Sponsored by Women in IT@Yale and Microsoft
Help WIT further our mission of making IT a career of choice. Volunteers, mentors, and participants will get together to code for a cause. If you are interested in being a part of this event, tell us who you are and how you can help that day.
Participants will work in teams with other women (and men) to build something amazing (or at least get it started), pitch your solution, and share it with the world via Challenge Post. Not only will you learn a ton, but you’ll also earn Skype minutes and other great prizes, gain the admiration of family and friends, and you could see your project adopted by Direct Relief or The Nature Conservancy. You can also choose to compete in the Imagine Cup or get help in open-sourcing your code and contributing it to the Humanitarian Toolbox.
*Participant eligibility: You are a student who self-identifies as female, at least 16 years of age, and are actively enrolled at an accredited educational institution that grants high-school or college/university degrees and involved in activities to support more females in STEM. If you’re a male student and you want to attend this hackathon, you MUST bring a female student with you. This is so we can keep the gender ratios appropriate to the mission of this hackathon. Please note that everybody is welcome to join, but only female students are eligible to win a prize.
