On Tuesday, November 11 at 12:00 p.m., the university will honor all veterans and active-duty military personnel with a Veterans Day ceremony on Beinecke Plaza. Yale has been home to many men and women who have dedicated their lives to the service of their countries. I invite you to pay them tribute and to reflect on the freedoms and privileges that their sacrifices have made possible.
Following the ceremony at 1:15 p.m., the Yale Veterans Association will host a screening of the documentary “The Millionaires’ Unit: U.S. Naval Aviators in the First World War.” The film tells the story of a group of Yale students involved in the founding squadron of the U.S. Naval Air Reserve; these students were some of the first Americans to fight in the First World War.
